At this time Chrono Trigger was revolutionary because of its detailed graphics, multiple endings, unique battle system and plot related side quests that focused on character development. It's regarded by many fans as one of the greatest games of all time. In 1999 the game was ported and released by Square for Sony Playstation. In North America it was released in 2001 as a part of the Final Fantasy Chronicles for Playstation.

Story line

A group of young adventurers are accidentally transported through time and they learn that in a distant future the world will be destroyed. They travel throughout history to discover the means to prevent this upcoming disaster.

Gameplay

Chrono Trigger features the standard RPG game play with a two-dimensional fictional world that consists of forests, cities and dungeons. Chrono Trigger differs from traditional RPG games since the enemies are openly visible on field map rather than the random encounters that you can see in for example the Breath of Fire series. The battle occurs directly on the field map instead of on a separate battle screen. It's the same concept as you can find in games like Secret of Mana and Zelda.

Walk throughs

There are many sites on the Internet providing different walk throughs for the game. Some are very detailed while others give you hints to the right direction rather than saying exactly what to do. Walk throughs are a good suggestion if you’re stuck in the game and really can’t figure out what to do to be able to continue.

Development

Chrono Trigger was developed by a group consisting of people behind the Final Fantasy series and people behind the Dragon Quest series.
